KW Word Wall
Brookline Language Arts Learning Expectations
II. Emergent Literacy
C. Students will develop knowledge of
sound/symbol relationships. They will
be able to:
recognize
some
high frequency words from books and their environment...
These lists are for environmental print exposure. Children are
NOT
expected to know how to spell them
all
by the end of kindergarten.
There are three ways children use the word walls in KW:
1. Looking at words on the wall under the letter of the alpahbet
2. Words on a poster chart with an image next to them
3. Word pockets with cards that children take out
