Homework

Homework

I send homework home every day with the exception of long weekends
or vacations. The work is never too hard for your child to complete
independently however it's a nice time to bond with your child and work
together. My purpose behind the homework is to reinforce the lessons of the
day. I hope you will say, "Oh boy, let's see what the homework is today.
Tell me about it." Make it a wonderful happening. Have a nice quiet place to
work; maybe the kitchen table. Give your child a little snack for "brain
power," and offer lots of praise.

Always have your child write his/her first and last name (always in pencil)
on the top of every homework page. Insist he/she does neat work and that
he/she uses crayons to make it look even better.

The early establishment of a good work ethic will last a lifetime.
                         "Always do your best."

   * I grade the papers with check marks or smiley faces. A check is okay, a
check plus is very good, a check plus plus is excellent.

   * Please make sure that homework is placed back in the homework folder.
I expect homework folders to be returned to school the next school day
(even if the work is not done). I will give a check if the folder is
returned, however, I will make note if the work is not complete.

   * Homework is a category we mark on the report cards.

   * Please refer to the Weekly Newsletter that is sent home on Mondays.
This letter will keep you informed and it will list all the words,
skills, and expectations for the coming week.
