Who Is Mr. Guzzio?

What about me?

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I earned a Masters degree in secondary education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. 2009/10 marks my 8th year as a teacher, and my 3rd year in Revere. I am very excited about being here at the Susan B. Anthony Middle School for the Arts, particularly since I write, draw, and paint in my free time. I'm proud to be part of a group of dynamic, dedicated educators, and I look forward to helping my students succeed this year and beyond. I also look forward to completing my death ray and implementing my plan for total world domination.

What can I do for you?

I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished in Revere and at the SBA in particular. This year, I will be working closely with Mr. Nazzaro - the other 8th grade ELA teacher here - to ensure that each and every student is successful in our classes.

In ELA, we hope that our students develop an understanding of literature as a deliberate art form, with its own unique tools and techniques. By the end of the year, our students should be able to discuss and evaluate an author's purpose and craft intelligently.

We hope to help our Strategies students become more aware of those cognitive aspects involved in developing literacy skills. To facilitate this, we will be presenting them with cognitive strategies designed to help them connect thought to learning, such as making personal connections to texts, and inferencing. Afterall, once my death ray is up and running, I'll need minions that are quick thinkers and astute learners.

How can you reach me?

Email is the best way, but you can call me at 781-388-7520; ext. 3303.
