It's Fall so it's all about pilgrims and Thanksgiving at Rockport Elementary School. Grades 1 and 3,
along with multiage classes, traveled to Salem to visit Pioneer Village on November 17th and October
22nd, respectively. Similar to Plimoth Plantation, Pioneer Village recreates what life was like for settlers
in the late 1600s, but on a smaller scale more comfortable for younger children. The 3rd
grade classes were also visited by a member of the Wampanoag nation from Plimoth Plantation's
traveling program, who provided the perspective of the native peoples, including their philosophy and
interactions with the pilgrims.
In addition, the middle and high school students attended performances of the Scarlet Letter, presented
by the New Rep Theater at the M/H school auditorium.
