How are children selected to recieve services through Title I?

We use a form filled out by the teacher for every child in the class. This
form takes into account the teacher input, the DRA 2 scores and the
DIBELS scores. A list is made of children in need. After this has been
completed, Children are screened. In all grades informal
assessments are done to determine eligibility.

Should children who recieve Title I also recieve reading in their regular clas

Title I services are supposed to support and not supplant the regular
reading services delivered in the classroom. Services for most children
are provided in their own classroom. Only when scheduling difficulties,
children from different classrooms or attentional issues occur is
consideration given to delivering services outside the classroom.

Can children who are on an IEP be included in the proram?

If a child's IEP does not include reading, they may recieve services
through Title I.

What types of programs are used in the sessions?

All programs used in Title I are scientifically based. We use many of the
programs used in the classroom with extra help and repetition given.
Some of the programs are listed in the Curriculum Help section. The
help given is determined by each child's needs.

Why do we need to sign a compact?

Many of the forms that are used come directly from the state.
Remember that even though we are small, we must follow all of the
regulations.

How do we decide what to do with the money?

Every year a needs assessment is distributed to all parents and staff. It
is based on this information that we deliver services. It has always
considered Reading in Grades One, Two, and Three to be in need. At
some point we may change to a different format.
