SCHOOLS LATE SPRING PROGRAM BEGINS
FITNESS CLASS – Instructor: Marsha Whelan
Rockport’s favorite evening fitness
class provides a full body workout for all ages, focusing on increasing overall
strength, endurance and tone. Each class
you will need hand held weights (3 to 8 pounds), drinking water, and a mat or
towel for the floor work session, and, of course, supportive exercise footwear
and comfortable clothing. Come and have
fun while you get in shape!
Classes will be held on Mondays
and Wednesdays for six weeks (12 sessions) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Elementary
gym beginning on April 9, 2012.
Registration fee for 6 weeks (12
sessions): $60 ($48 for seniors 60+)
CREATIVE WRITING – Instructor: Ann McArdle
Do you want to write a novel, or
your memoir, or maybe a short story?
Have you been working on one for a while and feeling like it needs a
boost? Come explore creative writing
with us. We will cover such areas as
overall structure, finding material, creating strong characters and setting,
understanding point of view, and finding your voice. Classes will include writing exercises,
discussion of short readings, and discussion of student writing produced in
class.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays
from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Elementary school library for 6 weeks beginning on
April 24, 2012.

COMPUTER BASICS COURSE – Instructor: Shelagh
St.Laurent
Need a refresher on your
Microsoft Office Skills? Look no
further. This fall we will be offering a
10-week course reviewing the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint,
along with email and internet basics. Shelagh St.Laurent teaches
technology classes at the Rockport Middle/High School.
Materials needed: Computer flash
drive for saving files
Classes will be held on Wednesdays
from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Foster’s Computer Lab for 8 weeks beginning on March
28, 2012.

CAMERA BASICS: INTRO TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Instructor: Kathy Chapman
Do you own a
digital camera and want to learn how to take better pictures and share them
online? Are you intimidated by your new
digital camera? Confused by all its
modes? This class will introduce people
to their digital camera’s functions, basic photography concepts and picture
editing. Students will be taught the
basics of manual photography in order to understand the aperture, shutter speed
and ISO functions of their cameras.
Photo shoots during class will demonstrate how to photograph people and
places, using the manual camera settings to creatively maximize the camera’s
potential.
Kathy
Chapman is a
magazine photographer specializing in portraiture and product photography. She is an avid blogger with daily entries
about the surf scene, vintage schooners and fishing industry of Cape Ann. She is a
member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony, among other art organizations, and shows
