Friday, Sept 2, 2011:
Grade 7 has been given a packet of information, an introductory letter to be
signed, and a rubrik. They all have to do with their first project- a leaf
collection due Friday, September 30. Please encourage your child to bring the
packet home and discuss it with them now rather than right before the due
date. I have shown them examples of collections done in past years. These
examples are available in my room for anyone to view. Please feel free to ask
any questions you may have over the next week or so. If students happen to be
outside and see samples, a zip-lock baggie will preserve the samples until
they are ready to organize them into the finished project.
Grade 6:
Students have been composing an original factual or fiction story involving
an animal. Time has been given in class for them to write at least a rough
draft of 1 1/2 double spaced pages. Editing should have also been done. I
will expect a final copy (written in ink or typed) due the day we return from
the long weekend.
Grade 8 has been working on a lab in which they calculated speed and distance
on a course outside. Those results should be brought to class Tuesday so that
we can create a graph of the combined results.
Have a great long weekend!
