Room 107’s Shining Star News
September 10, 2010
THE new school year is off to a great start! The fifteen pupils in Room 107 have been very busy settling in to first grade. We’re spending time learning school routines and rules and meeting new friends. Everyone is working hard to walk quietly through the halls while keeping their hands to themselves; staying seated during lunch; and showing HEART throughout the day. Although some children need a little extra time to adjust, everyone has shown patience and understanding. They are truly shining stars!
IN the classroom we’ve created a “room helpers and leader of the day” chart. It is truly amazing how quickly everyone volunteers to help. We spent time organizing and labeling our books and supplies. It’s a “work in progress” that is making headway.
NEXT week I plan to call parents to introduce myself, touch base and find out how each child is adjusting to school. If I call at an inconvenient time, please feel free to let me know.
THERE are students in our class who have reactions to certain foods. Keeping this in mind, we will acknowledge each student’s birthday (or a designated day if the birthday falls on a non-school day) by singing “Happy Birthday” during snack time, choosing a “special” pencil and creating a keepsake “birthday” book to bring home. Please do not send in “birthday treats” to share.
AS a reminder: morning snack should only consist of a drink and one snack such as: fruit, a package of crackers or cookies, granola bar, etc. Please no nuts or candy.
THE following is the classroom Specialist Schedule:
Monday-Art, Tuesday-Music, Wednesday-Comp Lab, Thursday- Gym, Friday- Library
You can view the schedule and other pertinent information on our class webpage at http://www.teacherweb.com/MA/ShakerLAneSchool/EvelynHolm/
I update it as often as possible, so check in regularly.
YOUR child brought home a yellow folder today. Please feel free to use it for important papers, notices, and/ or school information. Contact me with any questions or concerns at Shaker Lane, 978-486-3959 ext 107 or via email eholm@littletonps.org.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all the donated classroom supplies! We are so lucky to have such wonderful support!
