HATFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM
Welcome to the Hatfield Elementary School Band Page!
Our HES Band Program starts with beginner band lessons offered in the 5th grade. Students considering joining the band program in the Hatfield schools should start the lessons at the 5th grade level in order to be at the same level as all other students in the band.
Information about the beginner, 5th grade band program will be distributed during the first week of school.
Students in the 5th and 6th grade receive one group band lesson, with like instruments (all flutes, all trumpets, etc.), and one full band rehearsal with all beginner band students meeting together.
The 6th grade band program at HES is a continuation of the program offered at the 5th grade level. During this second year of instruction, 6th grade band students make substantial improvements in their tone and technique, in preparation for entering the Smith Academy Band.
All HES band students perform in two annual concerts: the December (TBD) winter concert, which takes place in the HES cafeteria during the day; and the spring all-school band concert, which takes place in May (TBD) in the SA gym at 7PM.
In addition, HES band students are expected to march in the Hatfield Memorial Day Parade along with the band students from Smith Academy. This year's Memorial Day Parade is on Sunday, May 27th at 12:30PM.
Please check the "Calendar" page, found on the left, for any important dates releated to the HES Band Program.
Thank-you
