Can my child bring toys to school?
We recommend that your child does not bring his/her toys to school as they
often get lost or often get broken and then we have sad children. There are
many toys at school for inside and outside play and we strongly urge that
toys stay safe at home !!
What should my child wear for gym?
Tuesday is our gym day. It is important for your child to wear sneakers and
comfortable clothing that he/she can move freely in...i.e. sweatpants, pants,
jerseys . Dresses are not recommendeed on this day as phys Ed . requires the
child to run, jump, roll etc. The children do occasionally go outside for gym
so please dress appropriately.
How will I know if my child has enough money in his/her lunch account?
The cafeteria will send you a notice when your child's account becomes
delinquent and you will need to send in more money to the cafeteria .
What if my child comes home without an article of clothing?
We usually check the children's hooks at the end of each day but sometimes
clothing gets put down and left behind...check with the teacher and also
check in the Lost and Found Barrel near the front office...if your child
takes the bus you may also want to check with the busdriver.
When do South School Library books need to be returned?
The children are allowed to keep the book for one week...returning them
before Tuesday of the following week. ...some children do return them before
then and I do have a basket for early returns in our classroom.
If they do not return their book each week they cannot take out another book.
Do the children REST every day?
Each day in our classroom schedule there is a built in time for REST...we
call it Brain growth time or Quiet Time...the children have individual mats
that they rest on...some days it's actual QUIET/REST time (wishful thinking
on my part) other days its quiet time where they are on mats but may have a
book to read/look at and just rest their brains!!!
Who are the people that my child has contact with at school?
On a daily routine, the children in Room 1 see the following adults; myself,
Mrs. Sangiolo( AM aide), Mrs. Hartman(PM aide-).
During the week the children see the following
staff: Mrs. LeBlanc (O.T.), Mrs. Reiche(art), Ms. Silverleib(library), Mr.
Donohue (Phys Ed.), Mr. Cookecomputer), Mrs. DeAngelo(music). Some children
are also serviced by staff from the resource room -Mrs. Kelly. Mrs. Fowler &
