Can my student prepare for the Physical Fitness Testing?

YES! Physical Education Class is only once per week! Some type of regular
physical activity outside of school is important. It does NOT have to be
organized sports. The activity can be something as simple as doing basic
stretches, some abdominal crunches, Push-ups, Pull-ups, and some type of
cardio work-out like jogging on a daily basis.

What is Posture Screening?

Posture screening is a check of students backs. The Physical Education
Teacher and School Nurse look for a lack of symetry as the student stands or
bends over. This screening is mandated by the State of Massachusetts and is
performed on students in grades 5 through 9.

What are you looking for during the screening?

We are looking for a lack of symetry in the back, shoulders and hips. If
there is a lack of symetry seen it COULD indicate scholiosis or other
curvatures of the spine. You would be notified by the school nurse if this
was the case. ***AT NO TIME IS THE STUDENT TOUCHED DURING THE SCREENING!!!
