• Parent conferences begin this week.
• Author study continues. Most kids are either finishing their second book or
are reading their third book.
• MCAS testing begins March 31 for third grade
Procedure to follow as you finish your author study books:
1. When you finish book #1 jot down notes in your Reader’s Notebook for your
summary, your opinion, and what you think are the big ideas and /or what the
author wants you to know about the book. Use your purple/blue sheet to guide
what information you need.

2. • Either draw or print out your author’s name to be used on your poster
• Find information about your author, either online or on the
jacket of the book. Either print out the information or jot it
down from the book jacket (in your Reader’s Notebook)
(These steps- #’s 2 & 3 can be done after you read book #1, book #2, or book
#3.)
3. • Start reading book #2.
4. • Follow the directions #1 for book #2
