Supply List

2008-2009 5M Supply List

Supplies for School

 2 durable two-pocket folders
(Plastic or “poly” folders are the most durable, please try to get these as
you will be using the folders a lot)
 1 graph paper notebook
 1 3-ring binder (no larger than 1 inch)
 1 package of white lined paper (college-ruled, 3-hole punched)
 Several mechanical pencils with extra lead
(You may use regular pencils, but mechanical pencils do not require sharpening
so often work better in the classroom)
 Several erasers
 1-2 pens in a color other than blue or black for correcting
 A pencil container (This container should be as small as possible, but still
able to hold all of your supplies.)
 At least 1 highlighter
 Small pocket dictionary
 1-2 boxes of Puffs tissues to share with the class
 1 roll of Bounty paper towels to share with the class

Optional/Recommended:

 USB Flash drive (keychain size.) A flash drive will enable you to work on
projects at home and at school without losing any data or having to retype or
email documents back and forth between school and home. Be sure that it is
compatible with both Windows and Mac computers if you have Windows at home.

 A pair of slippers or other slip-on shoes to wear in the classroom when it
is muddy outside. (These can be kept in your locker.)

There will be a community supply of art materials like colored pencils and
markers. If you would like to bring in some of your own art
supplies you may. Colored pencils and markers are the most useful for the
projects that
we do in 5th grade. Please try to put your name on things if you bring in your
own supplies.

You will need to have an independent reading book in school at all times. You
may borrow books from the classroom or school library or you may bring books
from home. We will be doing a lot of reading this year!

Supplies for Home

 Pencils
 A ruler (with inches and centimeters)
 Full sized white lined paper (3-hole punched)
 Colored pencils
 A dictionary (A thesaurus will also be helpful)
 A Library card (Make sure you can find yours. If you don’t have one, please
go to a public library to get one.)
 A quiet place to complete homework!
