CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR: Students are expected to demonstrate respectful behavior
in all interactions, as described in our classroom rules and in the
Parent/Student Handbook.
GRADING: Students are given a percent grade on quizzes/tests. A grade of
70% or below requires a parent/guardian signature.
HOMEWORK: Students are not given a grade on homework. Rather a check, check
plus or check minus will be given. A check minus will result in the student
staying in for recess to complete the assignment. Missed homework
assignments are made up during recess. It is the students’ responsibility to
complete all homework assignments on their own. By grade three, parents
should not be correcting their child’s work.
LATE WORK/MAKE-UP WORK: See handbook.
ASSESSMENT: Students are assessed in a variety of ways. Some of these ways
include: cooperative learning, discussions, oral and silent reading, class
work, presentations, writing assignments, quizzes and tests.
EXTRA HELP: If you feel your child is having any difficulties and needs
extra help in any area, please let us know via voice mail or agenda
notebook. We will provide the additional help and support necessary to your
child’s individual need.
SPELLING: An oral word preview will be given each Monday, followed by
dictated sentences each Friday. The words will included from Rebecca Sitton
and reading.
BOOK REPORTS: Students will be assigned a book report monthly. The students
will be given the topic/genre along with the rubric (expectations).
REPORT CARDS: They are distributed after each trimester. Progress reports
will be sent home in between report cards.
BIRTHDAYS: Cupcakes may be brought in along with napkins or plates. No
cakes please.
