CLASSROOM STANDARDS
GRADE TWO

Classroom Behavior: Students are expected to demonstrate respectful behavior in all interactions, as described in our classroom rules, playground rules,  and in the Parent/Student Handbook.

Assessment: In addition to daily observation and interaction with your children, a portfolio containing samples of your children's written work will be utilized to assess their development, progress, and mastery of skills and concepts in all curriculum areas.  This portfolio will be shared with you on a regular basis.

Grading: The Elementary Report Card ( for Grades 1 and 2) reflects the children's development in the academic areas using the following letter grades: O, S+, S, S-, N, U

O-outstanding indicates that a child is performing consistently far beyond grade appropriate expectations in that academic area.  Please note that this grade is not considered to be the goal for children who are performing well on grade level, but reserved to distinguish a child who demonstrates unusual talent in a particular area.

S+, S, S- satisfactory indicates that the child is performing within the expected range of grade appropriate academic achievement

N needs improvement indicates that the child's performance is inconsistent, and that s/he is having difficulty applying grade appropriate skills and concepts independently.

U unsatisfactory indicates that the child is not performing on grade level.

Report cards are distributed after each trimester.  They are preceded by a progress report halfway through each trimester.  Progress reports will inform you of your child's strengths and areas of need.
