What if I forget the page number or directions for the homework?
If you forgot to write down your assignment check the Homework Heads-Up sheet.
You can also call a dependable friend.
What if I forget a book in my desk that I need for homework?
Students and parents aren't always able to get back into school in the
afternoon, so you can try the following:
1. Call a friend and see if they will dictate the problems to you over the
phone. You'll need to solve the problem by yourself, though!
2. Arrive to school early in the morning. You may be able to complete your
homework before school begins. I am usually in the building by 8:15 a.m.
3. Accept the consequence. You'll have to remove a French fry and make up
your work the next night to receive partial credit.
What if I forget my lunch at home?
You can go to the main office and ask Mrs. Daly if you can call your parents
(if they are still home). If your parents have already left for work or are
busy, then you can buy lunch and pay the cafeteria back when the lunch bills
are sent home the next month.
What if I forget my gym uniform or my boots for P.E.?
It is your responsibility to remember which day you'll have physical
education. On that day, you must wear your gym uniform. If you forget, you
can't call home. Instead, you will have to accept the consequence and sit out
during the class.
This policy also applies to not having boots during the winter months. Because
you will be walking down to the gym in the winter, your sneakers will become
wet and salty if you don't bring a second pair of sneakers or boots to protect
your feet. If you forget your second pair of sneakers or boots, you will have
to sit out.
What if I don't feel well?
If you don't feel well, tell Mrs. Murphy (or any other teacher on duty). They
can give you a note to go see the nurse.
What if I'm late for school?
School starts at 8:45 a.m. If you arrive after we say morning prayer in the
school yard, you will need to get a late slip from the nurse. In the winter,
if it is too cold, we have morning indoor recess. The bell rings at 8:45 a.m.
After the bell rings, any students not in their seats will need to get a late
slip from the nurse.
What if I don't understand my homework and it's taking me hours?
Take a deep breath and try to relax. Read the directions 3 times to yourself
before asking an adult for help (just like we do in school). If you are
having a difficult time understanding the adult explain how to do a problem,
then have the adult write a note to me, explaining that the homework was
difficult for you to understand. I will try to explain it to you the next day
in class. If you still don't understand, you might want to come for some
extra help.
What if I want to go over my friend's house after school?
You will need a note from your parent explaining who you will go home with and
how you will go home. Example: Will you be taking Walkers n' Riders? If
students ride the bus normally, they may NOT invite friends to take their bus
home with them. This is the rule in the town of Andover.
