WEEK OF JANUARY 30-FEBRUARY 6
I apologize for not updating the announcement page but it has been a very hectic week. We had a great time during Catholic Schools Week and I think the children enjoyed all the activities. We had fun at the Zeiterion when we went to see Duck for President and Fancy Nancy. As always the children were very well behaved. They especially enjoyed out Hawaiian Beach Party Day and to quote Matthew "Mrs. Lemieux, I didn't think it was going to be this much fun!" (too cute). The posters the children made for Catholic Schools Week were awesome and incoming families enjoyed looking at all the good ideas. Everyone did excellent job on their 100 Days of School project and there will be A's everywhere. Thanks for all the help you gave your children on these two projects. We continue to practice math addition facts and we are still working on subtraction. We are almost finished with verbs in Language Arts and have begun long vowels in Phonics. Long vowels are very difficult because there are so many rules so we will really be working on this for awhile. Our reading is coming along but some children still need help with comprehension. We have a lot of good readers in class but I am finding that many of them are not understanding what they are reading so we continue to work on this aspect of reading. It is important that your child reads every night and especially important that you talk to them about what they are reading as this will help with their comprehension. Next week is Valentines Day and we will have a "little" Valentines Day celebration on the 14th. I will take care of the cookies and if you are able to send in juice boxes that would be helpful. The children may bring in Valentines cards and treats to share with their friends (there are 26 children in the class now). Please just have them sign their cards and place them in blank envelopes which makes it easier to pass out. February vacation is quickly approaching (can you believe it) and there are still many things and projects to get done before the end of the year but we do it all with a smile and some laughs. Thanks for the support I receive from so many of you as it means a lot to me to know that parents appreciate how I am trying to educate their children.
