WEEK OF MAY 14

We finished our Religion lesson on Baptism and all projects are due tomorrow May 21.  I was very proud that the children followed along during Mass with their new Mass booklets (please make sure they take them to Mass every Sunday  with you but return them to their folders so we can take them to Church on Monday). Everyone has sent in the money for the field trip but I still need the money for the whistles from some parents (please remember that this is still a surprise) Could you please send in a plain white t-shirt (a little size bigger for your child that fits like a beach shirt or night shirt) this week for a year end project.  I know this is short notice but I would appreciate it if you could send it in by Thursday of this week.  I will be taking a personal day on Friday and I would like to start these shirts this weekend so that they can be finished by our field trip. There are only 18 more days of school and a few special activities and one more Habitat project which I would like the children to work on for a special presentation to all of you.  This has been such a fast year and I cannot believe it is almost over! Where does time go when we are so busy in first grade???!!!

May 6 - I have posted the homework on the webpage. Also if you have not yet sent in payment for the field trip please send it in tomorrow as I have to pay for the trip.  The duck whistles I would like all the children to have cost $4.00.  Please send in cash for these whistles as soon as possible.  I will have the office write one check for all the whistles. Remember this is still a secret - I will let the children know about the trip the day before on June 7th. We have completed our Diocesan Social Studies project and the children did fairly well.  I will send home their grade when I am done correcting all the projects.  Our next project will be a Baptism project which we will begin next week.  This project will be done by the children and their family at home.  I will send home more information next week but if you have any pictures or momentos of your child's Baptism maybe now is the time to take them out.  Each child will have to make a poster board about their Baptism with pictures and the symbols of Baptism.  If your child has not been Baptized they will still need to complete the project by showing the symbols of Baptism (you can let me know if you need any help with this) and any other information they can gather on Baptism. This will be their final Religion grade. We are in the home stretch for the end of school (only 29 more days).  I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone and it is always a bittersweet time - happy to see them move onto second grade but sad to let them go!
