 PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

On Friday you received a letter regarding parent/teacher conferences.  Because there are so many children in first grade I am going to have the split the class a different way in order to see everyone.  If your last name begins A to G your night for conferences will be Monday, November 16; if your name begins with H-Z your night will be on Wednesday, November 19.  I will send home a note to let you know the time of your conference. Please try to stick to this change and not request a conference on a different night as I may not be able to accomodate you.  I will try my best to schedule conferences as clos to your requested time.  Also because there are so many children conferences cannot last more than 10 minutes.  If you feel you need additional time to speak to me you will have to make an appointment on a different day after school.  Also, if you feel your child is doing well and you do not have to meet with me just let me know (this would help a lot).  Thanks for your help with this matter.  I look forward to meeting with you.  Mrs. Lemieux

 READING INFORMATION

Beginning this week I will be sending home a Family Times page from our reading series.  This page will let you know what story we are working on for the week, will give you the skills we are working with, offer suggestions for things to do each day regarding these skills and also provide you with a game to practice these skills.  I am hoping that you will play these games and use the daily suggestions.  Please let me know what you think about these pages.  Together we can make your child a great reader.  Thanks for your help!

 BIRTHDAY INVITATION POLICY CHANGE

I have spoken to Mr. Pelletier regarding the birthday invitation policy in the student handbook and he has agreed to let first grade go back to my original policy regarding invitations -- AS LONG AS ALL CHILDREN ARE INVITED TO A BIRTHDAY PARTY I WILL PASS OUT INVITATIONS IN CLASS.  THERE ARE TWENTY-FIVE CHILDREN IN THE CLASS.  ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WRITE THE INVITATION AND PLACE IT IN A BLANK  ENVELOPE WHICH I WILL PLACE IN THEIR FOLDERS.  IF NOT ALL TWENTY-FIVE CHILDREN ARE  INVITED TO THE PARTY I WILL NOT PASS OUT INVITATIONS AS THIS MUST BE DONE OUTSIDE ON THE PLAYGROUND ON YOUR OWN TIME.  I hope this helps with all our birthday celebrations.  I know that the children are always excited to invite friends to a birthday party but I do not want any child to feel left out.  Thanks,  Mrs. Lemieux
