Book Report DirectionsFourth Quarter Book Report 1. Write a letter of appreciation to the author of your book telling them why you liked the book. · Use the Friendly Letter format in your English book (makes sure you include all parts of the letter-the heading, greeting, closing, ect.) · Must be at least 2 paragraphs long (in one of these paragraphs must be a summary of the story; the other explains why did or did not enjoy the book using specific examples) · May be written in cursive pen or typed. 2. Read a book that has been made into a movie (it must have been a book FIRST-see me if you need help). Write an essay comparing the movie version with the book. What’s different? What’s the same? Which did you think was better and why? · Must be at least 3 paragraphs written in cursive pen or typed. The first paragraph must be a summary of the book. The second paragraph compares the book and the movie (it is VERY unusual for the book and movie to be the same). The 3rd paragraph is your opinion.
3. Become a character in your book. Write the story from your character’s perspective and be ready to share it with the class. · Summary must be at least 2 paragraphs long. · You may dress up to portray your character; however your costume MUST be something that you can change into quickly and in the classroom.
4. Create a picture book of the story you read. Include major details and pictures that you create from the book. · Book must be at least 8 pages in length and be on regular sized paper (8 ½ by 11) · Book must include front cover and an “about the author page” (this is not included in the previously mentioned 8 pages and the author is you). · Each page must include a picture (in color and with great detail) and words Turn Over→ 5. Create Your Own Test: Write a test for the book you have read. You will write 12 questions for your test. You must have a variety of question types (Examples: multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank, open-response). After you have written your test, you must make an answer key. Don’t forget to include your title and author on your test. May be handwritten neatly in cursive in blue or black erasable ink or typed.
You also MUST write the number of your book report choice somewhere on the book report.
