What is CORI and Virtus Training ?

CORI, a mandated yearly criminal background check and Virtus Training or
"Protecting God's Children" a one-time training session are mandated for all
employess, parents, and other adults who wish to volunteer services at SMS -
field trip chaperones, lunch program helpers, lunch/recess monitors, etc.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Catholic Church have initiated these
safeguards to ensure the protection of all our children from any form of abuse.

The Criminal Office Record Information (CORI)check is mandated for all Church
and School employees and volunteers (18 years +). The check is to insure that
anyone who has committed an offense that would preclude him/her from
working/serving with children is not allowed to be in such a position. The check
is a simple, painless and confidential process. Request a form if you have
not had this check done, and you wish one.

Virtus is two to three hour training session and it is coordinated by the
parishioners in our own parish who have had two full days of training to
conduct the program for their peers. A certificate of completion is issued to
verify participation in this training session.

There is a date discrepancy between the yearly calendar issued at the beginning of the school year and the monthly calendar I just received, which has the correct date?

The yearly calendar is a “tentative” calendar. As we proceed through the
school year and schedules become more firm, there is the possibility that some
dates may need to change. When there is a date discrepancy between the yearly
calendar and the monthly calendar, the monthly calendar is the default.
