The Uxbridge Schools are holding a "Celebrate the Arts" event at Whitin
School on Tuesday, March 9th. Several students in our class will have work
featured at the art festival. Congratulations to Matthew Coolbrith, Foram
Patel, Kali Sander, and Abigail Damon. We're proud of you! The display will
be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and then again from 5:30-8:00 p.m., if
you are able to, please check it out.
We got off to a great start and have been working hard in mathematics,
science and in writing. I hope everyone is returning from the February
vacation refreshed and ready to finish our chapters on multiplication. It
is very important that they all study their multiplication facts EVERY
NIGHT. We are working on the the solar system, rotation, revolution, and the
moon. In Writer's Workshop we will continue to work on adding elaborative
details in our stories,STRETCHING out our main events, and expository
writing. I hope they children are sharing their writing projects with
your family.
HOPEFULLY, the children shared a note they wrote in their agendas
before the winter holidays. I asked that everyone try to bring in their own
hand held pencil sharpener (with a cover to collect shavings), several new
pencils, a highlighter, a dry erase marker and an old CLEAN sock to use as
an eraser on their dry erase boards. Thank you for your assistance acquiring
these supplies.
They should be asking an adult to look over their homework after they
have done a few problems to insure they are on the right track. Be assured
they will never be given an assignment that they have not completed lessons
for in class.

SPECIAL ATTENTION
PLEASE REMEMBER: We have several students with food allergies in the
classroom (CHOCOLATE and PINEAPPLE)! Please be sure to keep this in mind
whenever any food is sent in for celebrations, etc. The children will be
told not to share daily snacks with classmates to alleviate any potential
risks
Sincerely,
Mrs. Auciello
MATHEMATICS
We are working diligently on learning multiplication and related division
facts. Please practice EVERY NIGHT for at least 10 minutes. It will make a
difference and will provide a stonger background as we move forward with
other skills, preparing for the mathematics MCAS test in May.
Be sure to check out the new links for math web sites.
OPEN CIRCLE
We are an Open Circle classroom. Hopefully your children are discussing
this program with you. We will have several Open Circle lessons each
week.
TEXT BOOKS
ALL text books are to be covered immediately. Students seem to
like the stretch fabric covers, however any NON-STICK sturdy paper cover
will do.
If you need a refresher in making book covers check out the attached
file in the DOCUMENTS tab.
