Hello everyone and welcome to my 7th grade geography website. You can come
here to check on anything that might be going on in class. The calendar will
tell you day to day events in class and the topics you should expect us to
cover in class. The homework link is exactly what it says it is. Links will
direct you to websites of importance to our class and reinforce things we
cover in class. The teacher link will give you a little more information
about myself and photos and documents will provide you with copies of
activities we might have done in class to help you catch up if you missed or
lost something. Below all that is my email address at the school; feel free
to use that whenever you have a question.
This year we will be studying world geography. We will start in term 1 with
learning basic skills and facts that will apply to what we do the rest of the
year. Once that is completed we will begin focusing on Latin America with a
focus on absolute and relative location, climate, physical characteristics,
natural resources, population, political map locations, and culture. We will
study Europe in Term 2, Africa in Term 3, and Asia/Australia in Term 4 in
similar fashion.
The students are required to keep a 1-1 1/2 inch 3-ring binder in class.
They are also expected to have something to write with everyday.
In terms of grading, classwork is going to be 50% of the average, 30% will be
for tests/quizzes, homework is 10%, and class participation &
behavior is 10%.
The class will use various textbooks provided by Prentice Hall. The website
is phschool.com and the link can be found under "links" on my website. The
username is "MRBCLASS" and the password is "SOCIAL09". Be sure to use all
capital letters or you will be unable to log on. Feel free to use this site
as a way of keeping up with your school work. We highly encourage you to use
this site instead of relying on a hard copy of the textbook because of the
lack of hard copies available to take home.
Finally, my late night is Tuesday afternoons from 1:51-3:15. Students are
encouraged to stay with me or another member of the Red Team to finish work,
get extra help, or anything else they may need to accomplish. They do not have
to work exclusively on the subject they stay for so they are more than welcome
to work on something other than geography if they stay for me on Tuesday.
I hope the year goes well and we learn about all the exciting events, people,
and places around the world.
