Program Field Trips & Films

TauntonHigh School  -  Marketing Education

“Where hard work prevails and can earn scholarships and trips to national DECA conferences.”

FIELD TRIPS in Marketing Education Program –

This sheet goes with ALL courses listed.

For twenty-six years, Marketing Education students have been able to apply marketing theory learned in the classroom in various forms of DECA Competition.  Some are listed on the attached Signature sheet.  This year we will have weekly evening meetings for students and parents as well as community volunteers from business to gather and plan various activities and required fund raising.  Meeting dates will be posted soon.

All students will be REQUIRED to complete either an Individual or a Team Written Report following the Nationally recognized DECA Business / Technical Report criteria.  Students will be encouraged to enter reports in competition at District, State, and International Competition run by DECA.

The TauntonSchool District historically has covered a significant amount of the conference expenses.  That has included the following; membership, registration fees for District, State, National and Regional Conferences, and transportation.

Students have traditionally had to pay for hotel expenses for overnight trips.

This year, we all face some very serious budget limitations and we are not sure how much of these DECA expenses will be covered by the School District.  We always have Fund Raising activities that students can participate in to offset their expenses.

*   National DECA Membership Video – 12 minutes – will be played in each class ONCE, as a way to educate students about opportunities in DECA.  This will be followed up by live presentations by SENIOR Marketing students who participated in DECA Conferences last year.

·         LEAN ON ME – True story that has had a profound impact on my students facing MCAS Re-TEST  I’ve had as many as 35 to 40% of my students in all three Marketing Classes who needed to Re-take the MCAS test.  It also reinforces proper behavior in SCHOOL and the CLASSROOM.

·         RUDY – Ranked as one of the top 5 Football Films.  True story of a young man who overcame tremendous odds to reach his goal.  It shows the role of JUNIOR COLLEGE for those who might not be able to move into a 4 YEAR COLLEGE directly from High School.
