New Program Policies & Signature Form

Where HARD WORK PREVAILS and can earn scholarships & trips to national DECA conferences.”

Taunton High MARKETING EDUCATION       Courses ONE & TWO

COOP & PRACTICUM Courses.   COMMON RULES that apply to each course.

For the 2008-09 School Year our THS Administration has purchased materials to help students SUCCEED academically and in DECA Competition.  We have other resources that will help students in the classroom.

Our Business Advisory Committee has made a commitment to be GUEST SPEAKERS to students to share their experiences in the business world.

Rules to help all students understand what Businesses will expect of them when they start to work.

  • TEXTBOOKS –   We now have NEW textbooks.  Each student will be assigned a TEXT.  Students are expected to use their own textbook and not “Borrow” anyone else’s.  We might be able to arrange for students to store textbooks in the class under certain conditions.  That will be announced soon.

  • ASSIGNMENTS  -  Are due at the beginning of the class on the date due.  Late assignments receive half credit.

  • ACADEMIC DISHONESTY - Plagiarism and cheating are serious offenses and may be punished by failure on exam, paper or project; failure in course; and/or expulsion from the school. For more information, refer to the "Academic Dishonesty" policy in the Student handbook.

  • Theft from School Store or Classroom or PROJECT activities -   Our students go out to work in many local businesses.  Our program has a reputation of honesty and integrity.  Student who don’t support that will not be placed on jobs sites or given such responsibilities.

  • SEATING PLAN – Will be kept, and if needed, will be rotated periodically.

  • The Massachusetts Dept. of Education requires that you learn “EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS” that will help you succeed on a future job.  Two things will be strictly enforced this year to help you understand what is acceptable in business and what is not.

    • You are paid on the job to participate in your work activities.  The same goes for our classroom activities.  If you abuse hall passes, you will be required to use a special HallPass that will require you to use our TIME CLOCK to stamp the time you leave the class.  You will also need to stamp that HallPass at your House Master’s Office clock WHEN YOU ARRIVE and WHEN YOU LEAVE.  You must then stamp your pass when you return to class.  It will then be placed in a special drawer and the time tallied.

    • On a job, you are not allowed to listen to music on your IPOD, or play cell phone games or text message, or waste time on the internet.  Business leaders tell us that this is becoming a serious problem with new workers.

Studies show that considerable time is WASTED, and that people can become PYSCHOLOGICALLY ADDICTED to such behavior.  This is the same kind of addiction as Gambling.  Not all addictions are chemical.

If I ask you 4 times to put something away or you give me any “attitude” you will be referred for Addiction Counseling.
