Computer Concepts

Welcome to semester Two of the 2008-2009 school year!  I hope everyone 
enjoyed their first semester.  A course syllabus can be found in the Handouts 
section of this website.  

The following are the assignments for the week of 2/2/09 - 2/6/09:

1)Students are to define key terms, column 1 on page 54 of textbook in MS 
Word. Students can use www.webopedia.com or the textbook to obtain the 
definitions. Students should save file as "chapter 1 key terms".

2) login.course.com, go to detailed learning objectives.  Answer questions in 
section A.  Every answer needs a picture describing the concepts in the 
quesions.  Save this file MS Word as "Detailed Learing Objectives Section A."

3) login.course.com, go to interactive summary, chapter 1 section A.  
Complete summary.

The following are the assignments for the week of 2/9/09 - 2/13/09:

1) login.course.com, go to student edition labs, click on chapter 1 student 
edition lab and complete interactive assignment.  Also, click on lab 
assignment, open up word document and complete email assignment.

2) Students are to define key terms, column 2 on page 54 of textbook in MS 
Word. Students can use www.webopedia.com or the textbook to obtain the 
definitions. Students should add to file previously named "chapter 1 key 
terms".

The following are the assignments for the week of 2/23/09 - 2/27/09:

1) login.course.com, go to detailed learning objectives.  Answer questions in 
section B.  Add a picture to your answers when appropriate.  Explain the 
concepts and define the terms in each quesion.  Save this file in MS Word 
as "Detailed Learing Objectives Section B."

2) 2/26/09 - Students are to complete 3rd column of vocabulary terms on page 
54 of text book.

The following are the assignments for the week of 3/16/09 - 3/20/09:

1) Refer to page 56 in your textbook and work on the Cyber Classroom 
project.  As a group, you are to choose an article from pcworld.com or 
pcmag.com and follow the instructions in the textbook.

2) Students are to create table on page 61 and compare five computers from 
www.tigerdirect.com.  Students should save the file as "Computer comparison 
Tigerdirect.

3) Students are to work on the "Identify Motherboard Components Worksheet." 
Students can refer to www.kids-online.net.

4) login.course.com, go to chapter 2, student edition labs.  Open the 
Understanding Motherboard Components Lab assignment.  Complete the assignment.

5) March 20, 2009 - Student should wrap up any assignments that they have not 
completed during the week.  Students who have completed all assignment, 
should start defining column 1 key terms on page 112.

The following are the assignments for the week of 3/23/09 - 3/27/09:

1) Quiz on Motherboard assignment.

2) Students should finish up Vocabulary, column 1 for chapter 2.

3) Students should go to www.howstuffworks.com and read and summarize how 
memory works or how microprocessors work.  Students should download the 
assignment sheet in the handout section of teacherweb.  Students can also use 
the textbook pages 69-77.  Finally, students should complete QuickCheck 
questions on page 77.

4) SAM 2003 training for chapter 2 and Chapter 2 A/T.  Reminder, you are 
graded on the APPLY component of SAM.

5) Friday, March 27th, Students are to work on login.course.com.  Students 
are to go to detailed learning objectives.  Answer questions in sections A & 
B.  Every answer needs a picture describing the concepts in the quesions when 
appropriate. Save this file in MS Word as "Detailed Learing Objectives 
Section A B Project 2."

6) Thursday and Friday, April 2nd and 3rd, Students are to finish up column 2 
and 3 vocabulary key terms on page 112.  Save this file as Chapter 2 vocab.

The following are the assignments for the week of 4/13/09 - 4/17/09:

1) Students are to work on Build your own computer project using 
Tigerdirct.com

2) login.course.com, go to chapter 2, student edition labs.  Open the 
Understanding Motherboard Components Lab assignment.  Complete the assignment.

The following are the assignments for the week of 4/27/09 - 5/1/09:

1) Students should start Vocabulary, column 1 for chapter 3 on page 176.

2) login.course.com, go to chapter 3, student edition labs.  Open the 
Chapter 3 Student Edition Lab. Complete and print the assignment.

3) SAM 2003 training for chapter 3 and Chapter 3 A/T.  Reminder, you are 
graded on the APPLY component of SAM.

The following are the assignments for the week of 5/18/09 - 5/22/09:

1) Student Edition Lab Assignments:
Word Processing Lab Assignment 
Spreadsheets Lab Assignment

The following are the assignments for the week of 5/26/09 - 5/29/09:

1) login.course.com, go to chapter 4, student edition labs.  Open the 
Chapter 4 Student Edition Lab. Complete and print the assignment.

2) SAM Word project 1 (All Tasks)

3) SAM Intro to Win XP and Office 2003 (All Tasks)

4) SAM Word project 2 (All Tasks)
