Scheduling

Throughout the school year, many students and parents have
questions about schedules. Please do not hesitate to contact your guidance
counselor with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Commonly Asked Questions So Far This Year:

Can I drop Band/Chorus? We recommend that you speak with Mr. Clark/Mrs.
Alzapiedi before dropping. If you still want to drop the class after this
discussion, a note from home is required. Sometimes, this will result in more
studies and, possibly, a change in other specials classes. As it gets closer
to the concert season, you may be asked to wait until after the concert.

Can I switch to a different section of a class to be with my friends?
Unfortunately, this request can not be accommodated. While it is very
difficult to get to know students not within your friendship group, we
encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and get to know others. If
you are having anxiety around this, please come see your guidance counselor to
discuss it. We know that taking this step is a difficult one.

7th Grade: Is it normal to only have Music/TechEd/FCS/Art three times a week
in my schedule? Yes. This year, 7th grade students will take these classes
for a quarter of the year, 3 times a week before switching to the next special.

8th Grade: Can I drop an elective or switch to a different elective?
Generally, once the term begins and schedules are handed out, electives can
not be switched. However, if a student is academically struggling, it is
possible to drop an elective in order to pick up more studies. If you are
having difficulty with your schedule, please do not hesitate to see your
guidance counselor right away.
