Miss Grimley's Expectations and Policies
I am looking forward to another great year here at Trottier Middle School,
and I know I will enjoy working with each of my students. In order to assure a
great year for all, I thought it would be helpful to share my expectations and
classroom policies.
Rules & Expectations:
My three classroom rules are respect, responsibility, and effort. Obviously
these are three loaded words that cover a wide range of expectations. Each of
these expectations as well as consequences for not meeting an expectation will
be discussed in class the first week of school.
How to reach me:
Students should take advantage of class time and studies to ask questions,
conference, or clarify directions, but if more time is needed we can certainly
arrange it. They can see me before school (7:30 am) most days, except
Tuesdays, for extra help, but should let me know the day before so I will be
sure to be in my room. I also stay after most Thursdays, but again please
have him ask me ahead of time to be sure I am definitely available.
Parents can reach me by leaving a voice mail (ext. 282) or an e-mail
(lgrimley@nsboro.k12.ma.us). If you wish to come in please call or e-mail,
and we can schedule a time. Parents may also find useful information through
the school's website. My own site has forms for term assignments such as the
book talks and poetry shares, as well as book lists, rubrics, and assignment
requirement sheets. Feel free to download these and use them throughout the year.
Grade 7 Reading/Language Arts Policies
Miss Grimley
Homework -- You will be assigned homework about four days a week and
occasionally on a weekend. The homework must be complete so that the novel or
writing piece can be worked on the next day. Failure to do so will cause you
to be behind the rest of the class. Late or incomplete homework will be
accepted but may not receive full credit. The work must be given directly to
the teacher on the next day of school. It is very important that students
make up all missing assignments. Homework will be posted in the classroom
daily and will also be available online through the school's website.
Grading: Your final term grade will be composed of the various projects,
class work, homework, quizzes, tests and essays you complete throughout the
term. Quizzes are normally worth 100 points, essays and tests are worth 200
points, and class work and other projects can range in point value.
Late Work: All projects and essays handed late will automatically receive
five points off the final grade.
Rewrites on essays: You are allowed to rewrite any essay you want to;
however, you must meet to conference with the teacher. You should come to
these conferences with questions and evidence of revisions. Rewritten essays,
with teacher conferences, will receive the new grade.
Retakes/Extra Credit: If you earn below a 70 on a major test/quiz, you may
see the teacher to make it up or earn extra credit. However, a parent
signature on the test/quiz is required as well as evidence of further studying
and/or teacher help before you can make it up.
** All rewrites/retakes must be completed within 2 weeks of receiving the
grade back **
