ATTENTION 7th GRADERS: FACS "Stress Free" HEALTH PROJECT!

All 7th graders in FACS are required to research a health issue, disease or
condition. Presentations (not to worry, very informal) are due the last week
of the quarter. All students receive a rubric and instructions on day 1
in FACS. You are to choose a topic and get it approved by Mrs.Infantino. It
should fall under the umbrella of: physical, mental or social health.
Students are to spend the quarter researching a topic. You may choose group or
solo, with at least 5 min. per person.
THE FUN PART! Students may choose a method of presentation: poster, powerpoint
slideshow, homemade movie dvd, PSA: public service announcement, TV cooking
show - (recipe must be healthy)! interview, skit, poem, game show, children's
book, art piece about health, demonstration like exercise, yoga, self defense,
relaxation. Remember: good eye contact! Volume! Good public speaking! You may
use props. Include a Question and Answer session, if time allows. Rehearse
ahead of time!
If you don't like public speaking, choose the children's book or art piece.
See Mrs. I at any time during the quarter for advice. One day IN CLASS will be
provided for working on this project. You should begin research at the start
of the quarter! You get to be "teacher" for the day! Enjoy it! It's fun!

WRITE YOUR OWN RAP ABOUT COOKING, SEWING OR HEALTH!
Well, kids, you asked for it! Here's the "Sewing RAP!" Ms. I made up while
driving to school one day. See if you can keep a back beat going as you rap
along! The clapping beat is: quick, quick, slow. And, listen to the message
about howimportant this art form really is! Extra credit if you perform for class!
"KEEP SEWING GOING"
You never know when you're gonna rip your pants
Or pop a button on a shirt at an elegant dance
Your zipper might split when you're walking down the hall
You get all embarrassed, now, who you gonna call?
In this day and age of uncertainty
Stores close down, now, where will you be?
Make it yourself, warm clothes or a dress
Resource, resource, resourcefulness
SEWING...KEEP SEWING GOING!
Sewing improves you mathematically
It's full of 3D and geometry
Sewing is a pleasure when you learn how to measure
So pick up some thread and improve your head
Right angles, inversions and fractions galore!
Once you get started math won't be a chore!
And don't forget about history
And the sweat shops in the industry
It took the industrial revolution
To make sewing possible for everyone

So forget about the stereotypical thoughts
That sewing is just for girls, CUZ IT'S NOT!
Boys also care about the clothes on their backs
And there's no better place to learn than right here in FACS!
