What about me?

Buon giorno! I am Lauren (Bisceglia) Infantino. I teach Family &
Consumer Science to grades 6,7&8. I adore teaching FACS... especially here at
Trottier! I was BORN to teach in the ARTS... as both of my parents did.
Previously, I taught Culinary Arts and Fashion Design in Newton, MA. But, the
commute was so long! So I was thrilled to discover this jewel of a town
called Southborough! I live in Leominster with my husband, Steve, and our
fluffy Maine Coon cat, Dandy Lion. Steve is a musician and fronts a dance
band for ballroom dancing, like you see on "Dancing With the Stars!" I often
go to his gigs and teach the waltz, fox trot, mambo, swing, cha cha
and tango to his audience. I learned ballroom at the "Fred Astaire" Dance
Studio and enjoyed competing in Latin. Quick step and Jive are my favorites.
My other hobbies are tap dancing, ping pong, classical piano, pipe organ,
drums and I often fiddle with the violin. JS Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in d
minor," Debussy's "Arabesque," and Thais Meditation are my favorite pieces to
play.
I am also certified in Art and enjoy sketching portraits. However, they
do end up looking more like caricatures because they are somewhat comical. My
masters is in "Creative Arts" from Lesley University. It was there that I
learned the love of "storytelling." I have a collection of costumes!
I often travel to Italy, home of my ancestors. The fondest memory in my
whole life was when I got to introduce my Mom to her relatives for the first
time! Che fantastico! And, when Mother Teresa reached out to hold my hand in
a huge crowd in Newton.
Please drop by to say "hello" and bring in one of your favorite recipes
for our "young chefs" to try out in our test kitchens. So nice to meet you!

Mission for FACS: Family & Consumer Science

The Mission for Family & Consumer Science classes is to empower the individual
with practical skills that will last a lifetime. FACS prepares the
student with experiences that will lead to competent, concerned and complete
human beings. FACS teaches not only knowledge, but the APPLICATION of
knowledge, in hopes to shape a better world for families. FACS teaches
"health" habits that are vital to feeling fit, happy and safe. FACS prepares
our students for the business of living happy and successful lives in a world
of constant change. FACS teaches the valuable protective factors of
"resiliency" - the ability to prevent or to recover, bounce back and learn
from misfortune, change and pressure.
My own personal goal... I strive to make my classroom a place where students
will experience "JOY" while learning.
