You can call me Gus. That's it.
I'm married to Kathy, a wonderful woman who is a nurse in the Newborn ICU at Children's Hospital,
Boston. I have two kids: Anders, who is a junior at UConn majoring in pre-pharmacy, and Kerin, who
is a high school senior, plays the clarinet, and participates in the school's cross country, gymnastics,
and spring track teams. In August of 2007 we adopted a dog, Luna, from a rescue shelter in
Clarksville, Virginia, my parents new home town.
I'm a bit of a U.S. history fanatic and love talking about it to anyone who is sitting in front of me. I've
traveled quite a bit to see some of the places I teach about and you'll find selected photos on this
website of me (and my hat) all over the U.S. I'm also very pleased to be the adviser of IDS--a club for
students who appreciate others' diverse view of life and who are willing to be themselves in spite of
enormous peer pressure to conform.
If you'd like know something to break the ice with me, I love travel, Dr. Who, Star Trek, Macs, and
Saabs (I've owned 8).
That's all....
Unless you want to buy me a gift, of course. I like dark chocolate (Lindt is my favorite), jelly beans
(the small ones), Swedish Fish, and candy fruit slices (a lot!). Herbal teas are good, too, but only the
orange or spicy ones.
OK, good bye!
