FAQ

The following are classroom policy questions that students and parents
frequently ask.
  1. May I pass in late homework and receive credit?
  2. What is your policy on late essays/projects?

May I pass in late homework and receive credit?

Generally, no. When written homework is assigned it is usually discussed/gone
over in class on the day that it is due. Therefore, students who had not done
the homework would be able to complete the work in class and then submit it
for credit.

If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due,he/she may submit the
work immediately upon his/her return to school and receive credit.

What is your policy on late essays/projects?

The rationale behind this policy is to ensure, as much as possible, that all
students are treated fairly with regard to due dates and time allowed for
assignments.

For every day that a project/essay (or the like) is late, 10 points will be
deducted from the student's final grade. (If, for example, a student passes
in a paper one day late and they receive a grade of 78% on it, 10 additional
points would be deducted (final grade 68%)to reflect the degree to which it
was late.)

Students who are absent from school on the day an essay is due should email
papers directly to me (mregan@watertown.k12.ma.us) so that they do not incur
a loss of points. Please request a return email to confirm that the essay was received.

Projects and 3-D items that cannot be transferred electronically may be
dropped off in Room 350 on the date due by a parent, sibling, friend, etc. so
as to avoid a late grade.

If a student is absent from school for a significant length of time owing to
an extended illness, deadline extensions will in all likelihood be granted.

Please refer to the course syllabus and outline for more information.
