Our current theme: Disability Awareness
Here were some of our favorite things:
•	Learning all about trapezoids and rhombuses and helping Mr. Mixup get his
shapes right.
•	Building different shape pictures with our pattern blocks. The children
have been making amazing pictures!
•	Sharing our acts of kindness with one another. We are up to 38 “heartprints!”
•	Getting ready for our Valentine’s Day celebration next week.

Word Time
This week in word time, Squawker has been teaching us words related to school.
We learned some very important ones: letters, capital and lowercase. This
weekend have children point out signs that are in all capital letters. In
addition, we learned a new ABC song that helps to break up the “LMNO” letter.
It goes to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” Have fun singing with your
child!

Reminders
 We are all done collecting milk jugs! The children played in the igloo
today and had a great time! Next up in dramatic play – the post office!
 Please remember to send in your “heartprints.” The children are extremely
motivated and proud to earn them. If you want to send in more (than the 2 I
originally sent home) that is great!
 Have a great weekend!

Our Song of the Week
(Tune of “Yankee Doodle”)

In the month of February
I’m so very glad, oh!
The groundhog comes on groundhog day,
A-lookin’ for his shadow.

February what a month.
Cold and crisp and snowy
Middle of the winter when
The winds are sharp and blowy.

In the month of February
Always gets me thinkin’
About a special pair of heroes
Washington and Lincoln.

February, what a month!
Filled with lots of cheer now.
Will you be my Valentine?
Valentine’s Day is here now!

Questions to ask your child:

•	What Act of Kindness did you do this week?
•	Show me a capital and a lowercase letter?
•	What do letters help you do? (Make words)
•	How can I tell the difference between a rhombus and square?
•	How can I tell the difference between a rectangle and trapezoid?
•	Rhombus is another name for what shape?
•	Who was your Friday Friend?
