Science is fun and exciting in third grade!

We are getting ready for chemical testing. So far, we have learned...

*Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.

*Mass is how much there is of an object. It can be measured in grams or kilograms.

*All matter is made up of atoms.  

*Different atoms are put together in different ways to make different kinds of matter.

*Properties of matter are how it smells, its size, color, texture, and shape.

*Size must be a measurement! "Big" or "Small" is always relative to the size of something else!   A baby elephant is big compared to a mouse, but small compared to the mother elephant!

We are getting ready to learn about states of matter so that we can break out the chemicals!
