FAQHere are many of the frequenly asked questions about senior year activities:
Class dues are given to the class treasurer,or the advisor, Patrice Clough, in room A307. Checks should be made out to The Town of Marblehead. How can parents help in senior activities? Any parent who wants to volunteer to help at the Carnival, set up Senior Banquet, host the Progressive Dinner, or help at the Progressive Dinner can contact Patrice Clough at clough.patrice@marbleheadschools.org or leave a note in my mailbox in the main office. mailbox. What happens if my child did not get measured for a cap and gown? That means your child did not pay for class dues, but don't worry. The class officers and I guess-timate your child's head size and height and we order a cap and gown for all graduates. I order several extra caps and gowns in case some do not fit. No one gets a cap and gown without paying for class dues. To be cleared for graduation all obligations must be met. Can I drive myself to the prom? The Marblehead School Committee has mandated that all students take the school sponsored luxury buses to and from the prom. Does class dues cover the cost of the whitewater rafting trip? Class dues does not cover the class trip, but there are scholarships available. Class dues does fund some of the cost of the buses to make the trip more affordable. Is the Senior Class Banquet required? The Banquet is not required, however students do receive their favors and their yearbooks at the Banquet. Students who cannot attend need to contact Mr. Greg Dana to receive their gifts and yearbook. Do we need tickets for graduation? There are no tickets for graduation. The field house doors open at 12:00 and seating is first come first serve. There is seating for elderly/disabled people and their relatives. Is participation in Commencement required? It is not. The graduate can pick up his/her diploma from the office the following Monday. How does a student get cleared for graduation? All obligations must be met: library books, school books and sports equipment returned, dues paid, academic requirements met, detentions/suspensions cleared, and the Guidance Senior Plan Form must be completed. What does the graduate wear tto the ceremony? Girls should wear a dress, and comfortable shoes (no flip-flops). Boys need to wear long pants, a collar shirt with a tie, and dress shoes and socks (no flip-flops, no sneakers). Graduations are for family as well as graduates and proper dress is required. When do prom tickets go on sale? Usually the tickets go on sale about 2 weeks before the prom. Students who are on Senior Project will have paid for their prom tickets before they leave for their project. Students who do not attend MHS will need a picture ID. Why is the meeting for prom and senior week mandatory? There is much information about senior week that I cannot put in a letter or on a website, so I try to cover all the learning styles: visual, oral, or and hands-on. Sometimes letters don't make it home, so many of the forms are passed out again at this meeting. Remember, we all want the safety of the seniors in this week. What time should people arrive at MHS for graduation? Graduates need to be here by 1:00pm. Parents and family should remember we have one entrance to the high school, so plan ahead. There are plenty of seats. Graduation starts promptly at 2:00 pm. What if I cannot afford the senior class dues? Please email Mrs. Clough and explain your situation so we can find a solution. The policy of the senior class advisor is that all seniors have the opportunity to attend any senior function regardless of economic factors. Can parents attend the Senior Class Banquet Sadly no. How do I get pictures of my child receiving his/her diploma? This year, the senior class has decided to pay for one 5x7 photo of your child. Hockmeyer Studios phographs your child going across the stage. You will receive a form in May or June to prepay for these graduations photos. |
