How do I apply to private school?

All students who plan on applying to private school for next 
school 
year must meet with their guidance counselor by December 2nd.  
When coming to 
your guidance counselor you must:

1. Bring all forms from the school you are applying to.
2. Bring an 8x11 envelope with 3 stamps, addressed to the school, 
for EACH 
school you are applying to.
3. Set up an appointment for an interview with your counselor.
At this point your guidance counselor will give you forms to 
bring to your 
Math and English teachers and any teacher you will be asking for 
a 
recommendation.  We've streamlined the process and the private 
schools appreciate getting all the information at once from the 
guidance 
counselor.  
PLEASE remember you are asking for a recommendation.  Keep in 
mind this is 
extra work for your teachers. Say "Thank you."
The guidance office will coordinate having all your 
recommendations and 
transcripts sent to the schools you are applying to.

How do I learn about different schools?

We, in the guidance office, are here to help you apply to the 
schools you 
pick.  We do have a few catalogs and view books in the office.  
We do not 
have extensive knowledge on all the schools.  We recommend that 
you visit 
schools, take tours, meet current students and gather as much 
information as 
possible to help you make the decision about which school is best 
for you.   
We always suggest that you write a Thank You note to any school 
that you 
visit.

How are my files sent to a new school that I will be attending?

Once you make the decision to attend a private school, you must 
notify the 
guidance office.  When we send schools your recommendations we 
will also 
send the most recent transcripts.  If requested by the school, we 
will send 
the final report card at the end of the year.    
Once you apply to a school, we need you to inform us, either way, 
if you are 
staying in Medfield or going to a new school.

If I am leaving Blake, do I have to tell the school?

Yes.  You will need to inform us of which school you will be 
attending and 
and parent/guardian will have to come to school to sign release 
forms, so we 
can send the school all of your records at the end of the year.
