I grew up in Upper Marlboro, MD and graduated from Frederick Douglass High
School. Both of my parents were in the military and then became teachers.
They have always encouraged me to give back to the community and work hard
to achieve my goals. They are my heroes.
I obtained an Elementary Education Degree from Bowie State University and
began teaching in Anne Arundel County. I then obtained a dual Master's
Degree in Gifted and Talented Education and Administration/Supervision from
Johns Hopkins University. I have held positions as a classroom teacher and
Talent Development teacher. I have worked with children in kindergarten
through fifth grade.
I'm very excited about working at Whitehall Elementary. I'm very lucky to be
a part of an experienced staff, as well as a community of caring parents.
While I have very big shoes to fill, I know my commitment to student learning
and enthusiasm for teaching will contribute to the success Whitehall
Elementary has continually had.
My mission for the class is to provide an atmosphere that encourages
children to take calculated risks. I try to motivate and inspire students
to become enthusiastic participants in their daily work. It is essential
that students understand and meet the expectations that exist for their
learning; that they are empowered by this understanding and feel a sense of
accomplishment every day. All my energy and skills are fully dedicated to
enriching the classroom experience of each student to the best of my
ability. I will contribute much extra time communicating with families,
tutoring students, and attending after school activities. I want to
be "that" teacher remembered by his or her students for making a difference.
