Astronomer Cube Due March 5th
Select one of the astronomers from the list below. Using either the Internet
or books, research that person. You are looking for the specific information
below. Once you have gathered the information, you will be creating an
“Astronomer Cube.” The specific things listed below must be on each side of
the cube. Enhancement are welcome and encouraged in order to make it more
interesting. (Wrapping paper, colored paper, glitter, stickers, decorations,
borders, pictures) It must be neat, creative, and colorful, in other words…
your best work! Typing is encouraged, or use your best handwriting. You will
be presenting these in class. The presentation will be recorded and shown at
the Enrichment Fair in the Spring. The cubes will also be shared at the Fair.
Your cube must be at least 6” x 6” x 6”. I would recommend using heavy paper
or cardboard, to make sure it will last.
Side One: Name and picture of the astronomer. (Can be computer generated,
copied from a book, or an original that you draw)
Side Two: Date of birth and date of death (or unknown if they are still alive)
Side Three: Country of origin or where they lived most of their life (world
map with country designated or a map of the country with the city designated)
(Can be computer generated, copied from a book, or an original that you draw)
Side Four: Importance of this person to the area of space or what they discovered
Side Five: Modern Application (Why was something they did important to our
understanding of space? Or How do we use it today?)
Side Six: Your choice (any interesting fact you would like to share relating
to this person or what they created/invented/did)
