All student writing in my class is graded according to the 6 Traits of
Writing. With the exception of BCR assignments, students can use the Traits
scoring guides during the drafting and revising stage to focus on specific
areas. BCR assignments are graded according to the rubric in your child's
Writing Stylebook located in his or her Data Binder.
INDEPENDENT WRITING PROJECT:
Choose either the Narrative or Expository (Informational) Scoring Guide. Once
you print it, you must decide how you want your work to be graded. Did you
focus on your Sentence Fluency? Make sure it is worth more points than Voice.
Remember that each Trait is scored on a scale of 5, so be sure that your point
values are divisible by 5. Look at a rubric for an essay we have already done
as an example.
