What happens if my child is absent?

When a student returns, he/she should see me about what was missed. It is the
student's responsibility to get the make up work. Students have the same number of
classes that they missed to make up the work.

How can I set up a conference?

Team conferences are currently scheduled through the guidance office. These
can be conferences with one or more of your child's teachers. Team
conferences are encouraged because it will give you a more balanced look at
your student's behavior and performance. School conferences are also held
twice a year in November and February. These conferences are also scheduled
through the guidance office. Remember that your child's teachers are often
in charge of well over 100 students and conference schedules fill up
quickly. If you are not having any problems and would just like some
updates, this can often be solved through a phone call or email.

What are the purposes for writing?

Writing to Persuade
Writing to Inform
Writing to Express Personal Ideas
*Students encounter these various types of writing throughout the
curriculum.
For example, when writing poetry or a short story they are expressing a
personal idea. When responding to a BCR on the Science assessment, they are
writing to inform.
