12. DUE TUES. SEPT 25: Depression: Myth and Reality-Choose two myths you'd 
like to explore further to create a "Myth and Reality" poster about that 
aspect of depression. The poster should highlight two myths AND feature the 
TRUTH (reality) about both myths you select.
 Use facts from your own research (or from me).  No plagerism, you must 
site! You can also include quotes from a variety of sources: your research, 
a credible website or anonymous interviews.
 On your poster MUST BE a one page essay discussing: 1.How peer pressure can 
lead to depression, 2. Common signs and symptoms of depression, 3. How and 
where can you seek help and 4. Why depression is a serious problem for 
teenagers.
Below are some ideas for common myths about depression. You must choose two 
to use for your assignment
Myths/Misperceptions:
o	Depression is just a feeling; you can snap out of it if you try hard 
enough. 
o	Only a few "crazy" people really get depressed. 
o	Depression only occurs when bad things happen. 
o	It's easy to make yourself feel better. 
o	There's nothing you can do to treat depression. 
o	Medicines like Prozac and Zoloft are "happy pills." 
o	Only adults suffer from depression. 
o	Therapy's just lying on a couch talking about your childhood. 
o	Antidepressants can help anybody with depression. 
o	There are no outward signs of depression. 
o	People dealing with depression never experience extreme highs

making you luagh, for helping you feel safe and successful as a 7th grader, 
for helping you through a particular problem etc.)

21. HELPING NEEDY KIDS. CANNED FOOD ITEM COMPETITION! THE CLASS WITH THE 
MOST CANNED FOOD ITEMS WILL WIN A PIZZA PARTY! Each item YOU bring in is 
worth 5 bonus points in health class!!

article from class or any research you do on the internet)

you) STD pictures (ask your parents if you're unsure)
