The NIST is looking for nigh school students interested in a summer internship in scientific research. Students can recieve student service learning hours. UMBC's Bits and Bytes Program
You will participate in a two-day, overnight even that will include a preview of UMBC, a tour of campus, fun interactions with college students and faculty in Engineering and Informatin Technology, and an Engineering or IT related hands-on design competition. Dr. Leckrone will recount his experiences as Senior Scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope. He will delve into the missions and showcase some of the amazing pictures Hubble has taken over the years. Morgan State University
MSU School of Engineering and the Center of Advanced Research and Applications are looking for student delegates to attend the 2010 Maryland Regional Junior Science and Humanities Symposium from Mar. 11, 2010 through Mar. 13, 2010. It will be held at MSU. Students will be exposed to careers in science and engineering and will be asked to make presentations. The presentations are then judged.

2010 Women's Science Forum
On Sat. March 6, 2010, Space Telescope Science Institute will be hosting the Women's Science Forum. Girls will take part in hands-on activities related to science and engineering. They are encouraged to ask questions and explore the opportunities in a number of science and engineering fields. They will also have the change to look through the JHU Offit Telescope. Breakfast and lunch will be included.

Science and Engineering Appretice Program
It provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer. The goals of this program are to encourage careers in science and engineering, further students education, and make them aware of DoN Research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN.

2010 National Youth Science Camp

Stokes Educational Scholarship Program
This program is for high school seniors. They must major in Computer Science of Computer/Electrical Engineering in college. While in college, you can gain valuable experience at the NSA. And better yet, when you graduate college, you'll have a position waiting for you at the NSA!

Science and Engineering Appretice Program for Summer 2010
This program places students with an interest in science or mathematics in Department of Defense laboratories for an eight-week period during summer. It offers the student invaluable experience in the world of scientific research, with hands-on exposure to scientific and engineering practices. This program offers paid appreticeships for high school students interested in finding out more about careers in science and engineering.

Student Volunteer Opportunity at the National Aquarium
The 2010 summer program offers kids the chance to enter the field the marine science and gain experience in the field. This is a great opportunity for those interested in conservation and marine science. Students must be able to commit to training sessions on Saturdays in March and April (usually from 8:15am-3:30pm), as well as refresher days in May and June. Also, they must be able to complete at least 100 hours of volunteer work during the program. The program runs from June 21 until August 22.

Open House at the University of Maryland School of Medicine
On April 22, 2010 from 10:00am to 12noon the University of Maryland will hold its 18th Annual Open House for its school of medicine. Students will get the opportunity to learn about careers in the exciting field of laboratory medicine. The department of medical and research technology will be providing the tours and information. Students must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
