Why is there a Special Ed teacher in my child's class?

Special Education teachers and Instructional Assistants are placed in
classes where special education students are located. My job is to not only
make sure that mandated accommodations and modifications are carried out but
also to teach the class along with the content teacher. Both the content
teacher and myself, regularly plan together to fulfill the goals of the
school as well as our classroom. While you may only see the content teachers
name on report cards and schedules, does not mean I am not a pivitol part of
the team. I am available to not only assist the special education students
in class, but any student that requires my assistance.

How do I contact the teacher if I have a problem or concern?

I strongly encourage open communication between parents and myself. I can be
reached at school by email or by phone. The number to the school is 410-313-
2867 (front office) and my email address is Daneace_Jeffery@hcpss.org. If
you
have concerns about any your childs' other classes, please contact the
casemanager.

Who do I contact first if there is a problem in class with my child?

I would strongly suggest contacting the content (my co-teacher) to discuss
grades, behavior and work. Emails are also shared with me if a parent has a
concern regardless if the student is special ed or not.
