Who is this guy...?

"And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches toward Bethlehem to be born?"--W.B.
Yeats

I am a graduate of Towson State College and hold a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in English
and Secondary Education. After one year of teaching 8th grade English at Cockeysville Jr/Sr High, I
was recruited by my alma mater to teach Freshman Writing and to tutor minority students. During my
time on the Towson staff, I earned a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Maryland School of Law,
giving me a strong academic background for my professional duties.

At Towson I served in a variety of teaching/administrative posts before leaving in 1987 to return to
my true love, teaching high school English. I have taught at Howard High since, and currently teach
English 12 and 12APGT while serving the English Department as Instructional Team Leader. I like
reading, Orioles Baseball, "The Godfather," Woody Allen movies, horror movies, fast cars, "Mad Men"
and "Boardwalk Empire." In an effort to become more sophisticated, I saw my first Broadway play last
summer, "Wicked." This summer I traveled to Ocean City twice-once visiting my most valued friend
Lisa Fox and her wonderful family (husband Steve and the girls, Jadyn and Nyomi), then jetted off to
spend time with Paul, Christine and granddaughter Ryann in Naples, FL. By the way, if you need a
"Pictionary" partner, I'm great at drawing rubber duckies. If you want to know more, you'll have to ask
me: I don't do "Facebook."

My adult son and daughter, still required to refer to me as "Dean Knox," live in Clearwater, Florida
and Pompano Beach, Florida, respectively. (Oddly, the family never visited Florida when they were
children.) Paul loves fishing and entertaining his daughter, Ryann; Kelly enjoys Ravens football and
her new husband, Mike. They are, of course, ideal offspring.
