September 4th -
Vocabulary quiz tomorrow!
1st and 3rd - If you have not completed your presentation, be prepared to do 
so tomorrow.

September 3rd -
1st period - Complete your active reading of "Bone Black"
3rd period - GUM pages 1-3
4th period - Complete your active reading of "Bone Black"
All periods - Continue studying your vocabulary!  Today's warm-up made me 
worry.

September 2nd -
1st and 3rd periods must complete the textbook scavenger hunt.
4th period needs to complete pages 1-3 in the GUM workbook.
All classes should begin studying the vocabulary words early.  Do not wait 
until the night before the quiz to cram!

August 29th -
Write your first full-length journal of at least a page.  It may be on any 
topic- a general reflection of your first week, a specific concern about a 
course, frustration about your first quiz, etc.  The journal exists to get 
you writing extensively on a topic; we'll get better at it as the year 
progresses.

August 28th -
Vocabulary quiz tomorrow!
If you are going to wear a sweater over your uniform, remember that it needs 
to
comply with the uniform policy.  It must be entirely black and it may not 
have a hood attached.  
Use the 3-day weekend to find an appropriate sweater!

August 27th - 
Bring your dividers and notebook tomorrow.  We'll organize them together.
The vocabulary quiz is on Friday.

August 26th -
1.  Vocabulary assignment is due tomorrow.  Remember:  Sentences must be 
original.  Attempt to write descriptive sentences.  
Example:  
"My teacher is very discreet." - Does that help me figure out what discreet 
means?  What can you add to the sentence to demonstrate the meaning of the 
word?

August 25th - 
1.  Bring back all signed forms on Tuesday.  (1st period - This is your 
paper-
clipped stack.)
2.  Students signed up for oral presentations, be prepared for tomorrow's 
class.
3.  Vocabulary assignment due Wednesday.  Define, find the part of speech, 
and write an original sentence for the following words:
antithesis
insipid
nefarious
intrepid
inundated
irascible
terrestrial
narcissistic
discreet
perfunctory
