When is homework given out?

Homework is given out on the first day of the week.

When is homework due?

Homework is due on or before Friday.

Can homework be turned in early?

Yes. Some students do their homework in one night.  However, you 
may also do a little of it each night. Believe it or not, some
enterprising students go to my website over the weekend and start
on homework before I have introduced it on Monday!!

Do you give students time to do homework in class?

No.  Homework is to be done at home.

Is there after school tutoring available?

Whenever possible, I am in my room  at lunch and after school
to help students. Tutoring and study groups are also available,
please contact me for details.

Is homework graded?

Yes. Homework is 10% of the total grade.  Homework is graded for 
content,
neatness and completion.

Do students use their textbook for homework?

No, homework is usually not out of the textbook.

May students bring the textbook home?

Textbooks stay in the classroom.  However, if you would
like your child to have one at home,let me know.
I do have extras.

What are TEAMS?

Students are randomly assigned to a team when they register.  A 
team consists
of a math teacher, a language arts teacher, a social studies
teacher, a science teacher and a special educator. These
teachers all teach the same group of children. Ms. Osborne is
the team leader for The Flying
Tigers.

Why is your team called The Flying Tigers?

The Flying Tigers were a volunteer group that flew missions over 
China during World War II. We chose this name in respect to
MacArthur Middle school being on a military base.

Are all Flying Tigers in the MYP program?

Yes,  the whole school is a part of the MYP program.

What is the MYP Program?

It is a program of international education designed to help 
students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and
skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a
changing world.

Is the MYP Program only for advanced students?

No, this is not an honors program. The MYP Program is offered to 
students of all abilities.

Can I type homework?

Yes, you can type anything we do in class or at home.

Can we read the language arts textbook on-line?

Yes, go to www.classzone.com  Once you find the on-line book, 
after creating an account, you will be asked to enter a code.
The code is 2731201-10 for the sixth grade book.
