
This Week: November 23, 2009
We had a great time at the movies on Friday. What a great way to spend some more time together!
We have a short week, just two days, and will be off until Monday 30th.
Pass it On:
We will be kicking off our school wide Pass it On assignment. Look for a flyer on Monday that
explains our exciting assignment. Thanksgiving break is a great time to start brainstorming what
you think you want to do for your project.
In the Classroom:
Literature:
Students will continue to work through thier novels with their literature
groups. In the next couple of weeks, as the groups finish their novels, the
students will be working on projects to "show what they know" about their
novel.
History:
We be continuing our History section with the study of Rome. This week we will be looking more
specifically at Mt. Vesuvius and the city of Pompeii. We will be discussing the art, culture, and
experiences of the Romans during this time period
Math:
In Math groups, we will be working on learning the academic vocabulary that
goes with our math section. Some students will be working on Dividing Fractions and others will be
working on Dividing Decimals and Scientific Notation.
French:
Students have been working on greetings and common phrases. They have been woking on
writing the French translations of English phrases. We started a new unit last week and will be
continuing to build on our ability to read and write French.
Government:
We will be discussing and learning about the Articles of Confederation. We will discusses the
"hows" and "whys" behind this document.
Geography:
We have been studying about the different continents and will continue this topic. We are also
learning about the different types of maps, including their origins, creators, uses, and evolution
over time.
