Announcements

ITGS will be a fun and exciting course where you will explore how technology 
effects our society.  You will also have an opportunity to learn computer 
concepts and a variety of computer applications.

The second marking period will be dedicated to the ITGS project. The project 
is an internal assessment and part of the student's IB grade.

Assessment breakdown:

External Assessment 

Written papers 

Standard Level 70%   	Written papers 3 hours
Paper 1: (1 hour 45 minutes) 40%                                    (5/4/2012)
Five structured questions that assess in an integrated way the three strands 
of the syllabus.
	Social and ethical significance
	Application to specific scenarios
	IT systems
Students answer 3 of 5 structured questions

Paper 2: (1 hour 15 minutes) 30%                                   (5/7/2012)
	This paper consists of one unseen article
	Students are required to write a response to this article
	Written papers 4 hours 45 minutes

Higher Level 80%

Paper 1: (2 hours 15 minutes) 35%                                    
Seven structured questions in three sections that assess in an integrated way 
the three strands of the syllabus
	Social and ethical significance
	Application to specific scenarios
	IT systems

Paper 2: (1 hour 15 minutes) 20%                                   
	This paper consists of one unseen article
	Students are required to write a response to this article

Paper 3: (1 hour 15 minutes) 25%
Four questions based on a pre-seen case study

Internal assessment 

Standard Level 30%   Higher Level 20%

Project 
An IT solution to a problem set in a social context. Students must produce:
• a product developed through the integration of IT skills
• a written report (2,000 words)
• a cover page
