Step 5

Persuasive Presentation

Step 5/font color>

In this final step, you will read an article titled, "A Big Fat F". This
article is about how schools are failing children regarding their health.
This has added to the obesity epidemic. You will also read other articles on
the obesity epidemic.

You will gather details from your readings, and consider using other facts you have from your Internet research, to complete a persuasive PowerPoint presentation.

The purpose of the presentation is to inform school leaders how they've failed, and to persuade them to do something about it. You may want to include facts on the obesity epidemic including causes and effects, details on how schools have contributed to it, and how they can help prevent it.

First, view the "Persuasive Prompt" to guide your writing. Click here to read the prompt.

Next, go to "A Big Fat "F" article by clicking here. Name 2 or 3 ways given in the article that schools have failed children in the fight against obesity. Write these details, and the cited source(s), to possibly use in a persuasive presentation to school leaders.

Next, click here, or go to the "Documents, part 1" link above to read more topic-related articles. What details will you use from these? Record them on your organizer.

Next, discuss with your partner how to organize the slides for your presentation. Use the organizer here as a guide.

Finally, design your persuasive PowerPoint presentation using the software on your computer. Remember to save it to "My documents" on your hard drive.
