I have been teaching science for 16 years. Four years ago, I worked with
several NASA geologists and teachers to help develop lessons for teachers
across MD. I also worked for the summer in 2005 with several research
scientists at the Chesapeake Bay Lab (Solomons) dealing with E. Coli 157 (the
not so good bacteria)
To allow students to become successful learners and productive members in our
society using technology and scientific/critical thinking. I also want
students to be able to write creatively and be able to think intuitively in
the class and out in society. Too much time is wasted on remote memory and
writing to a test. Students need to have lessons to encourage their own
thinking. They can appreciate a classroom that is a challenge. They also can
find the answers they need to understanding science concepts by using hands-
on activities and manipulatives.
Exploratory learning is the key to tap into the students' minds.
