I have been teaching science for 12 years. Two years ago, I worked with
several NASA geologists and teachers to help develop lessons for teachers
across MD. I also worked for the summer om 2005 with several research
scientists at the Chesapeake Bay Laboratury dealing with E. Coli 157 (the bad
bacteria)
To allow students to become successful learners and productive members in our
society using technology and scientific/critical thinking. I also want
students to be able to write creatively and be able to think intuitively in
the class and out the class. Too much time is wasted on remote memory and
writing to a test. Students need to have lessons to encourage thought so they
can appreciate a challenge in classroom to think on their own. Then find the
answers they need to understand by exploring via hands-on activities and
manipulatives.
Exploratory learning is the key to tap into the students' minds.
