STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics, formerly Science) FAIR JOURNAL DUE DATES: Tuesday, 12/9/08 Question Friday, 12/12/08 Prediction Wednesday, 12/17/08 - Variables Wednesday, 12/17/08 - Materials Monday, 1/5/09 - Procedures Monday, 1/5/09 - Data Collection Tool Friday, 1/9/09 - Results Wednesday, 1/14/09 - Conclusion EXTENDED TO 1/16 Wednesday, 1/14/09 - Research Paper EXTENDED TO 1/16 Students need a title page, acknowledgement page, question page, research page, and bibliography page. This is all in the STEM Fair journal explained. The only difference is that 3rd graders just list 10 bulleted research facts instead of writing a full research paper. Our class conducted a "mock" science fair experiment entitled, "Does the type of soil affect the amount of water it can absorb?". The research facts we gathered were about soil itself. As long as the research is relevant to the topic of the question, it should be acceptable.
